I'm over Reigns

Courtesy of wwe.com

I wanted to believe in Roman Reigns. I really did. Maybe it was because I clung to the Shield so firmly. Two of my three favorite current superstars are former Shield members, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

Roman Reigns was the last bastion of the Shield, keeping the music and the body armor and all that and I guess I wanted it to live on. Even though I rooted for Brock to win until the cash-in, there was a small part of me that wanted Reigns to win.

I wanted Reigns to carry the strap because I wanted to see what he could do with it. That is until about the first 15 seconds of what is likely to be the biggest moment of his career.

I know a lot of Brock Lesnar’s character is based on him being the unhinged bad ass but he was actually angered by the opening salvo from Reigns where he connects with a solid punch and actually bruises and cuts Brock.

You can see that Brock is angered by this as his clothesline to Reigns while he was standing on the apron was definitely a result of Reigns working stiff throughout the match.

I wanted to be a Reigns fan. The Shield tie-in was too much for me to try and ignore, but his conduct in the ring at the showcase of the immortals has turned me against him. I was waiting for him to turn a corner and be the beast Vince wants him to be but no longer.

You don’t work stiff like that in a championship match, particularly that early on. You know you have a 20 minute match to work and you open by delivering a real punch? No.

No more Reigns for me. I’m over it. Due to the boos he got last night in San Jose it seems that the WWE Universe is too. I hope he gets bounced to the mid-card and never returns to the main event stage or Wrestlemania.

I can't. I won't.

Ambrose to Win Rumble, Lesnar to Retain, Source Reports

According to a source close to the WWE, Dean Ambrose is going to come away as the winner of the Royal Rumble and challenge for the WWE title at Wrestlemania. This is interesting as WWE seems to be trying to push Daniel Bryan as he has made his return.

This time of year is always interesting because so many things could possibly happen. Ambrose winning the Rumble makes a lot of sense, especially if Seth Rollins is to walk away from Royal Rumble the WWE Heavyweight champion.

However, that does not seem to be what creative has in mind. Again, the rumor from the same source says that WWE plans to keep the gold on Lesnar until Wrestlemania. Considering how infrequently Lesnar appears on RAW and Smackdown it may not be the best choice moving forward.

An additional thought to this is that having Seth Rollins win the title while not using his Money in the Bank contract essentially renders the contract void, unless he were to lose the championship somewhere along the road to Wrestlemania.

Another possibility would be if Ambrose is indeed to face Lesnar at Wrestlemania, then Rollins could cash in, win the title and re-ignite the feud with Dean Ambrose.
